Unfortunately Roy Elkins is under the weather and will not be able to attend – we wish he and his wife all the best for a speedy recovery!
We will still be joined by Jules Knight, former indie manager of band Pitchshifter, and Elise Shell who has used her education in music business to develop creative marketing strategies that help her stand out in a crowd of over 25K real estate agents in Chicago! We have a new addition of Darryl Hurs! Darryl has a 25+ year history in the music business including launching and running Indie Week, and more recently Music Pro Summit, indie101 and SCREENxSCREEN. He is the Managing Director for Downtown Music in Canada, and previously was the market manager for CD Baby in Canada for 3 years, along with branding/marketing for Live Nation as a freelancer!
Music Business in any career path is an ongoing subject for me – with one of my label managers going off to work on the Obama campaign – our conversations were still the same except ideas and policies instead of songs, and politicians instead of pop stars – I’m always looking for examples of creative thinking and ways that music business ideas can ignite and inspire in other areas. And, Roy Elkins fans, don’t worry – we will reschedule Roy when he is fully recovered !
